Christian G. Andreu-von Euw
Experienced engineer turned effective courtroom advocate
Clients bring Christian the cases that other lawyers need an expert to understand. He litigates patents, trade secrets, and copyrights, along with the contract fights that grow out of software development agreements, technology collaborations, and startup acquisitions.
Before practicing law, he designed electronics and software for the telecommunications and video industries, and was granted U.S. Patent No. 7,120,363 for his work on automatic optical alignment systems for free-space optical communication. His technical and legal expertise lets him narrow each case to the few facts that will decide it, whether by early resolution or by proof at trial.
Christian has tried cases before judges, juries, and arbitrators in federal and state courts, and before the International Trade Commission. His matters have spanned many technologies, including artificial intelligence, data security, database design, genetically engineered crops, glucose monitoring, semiconductor manufacturing, and antenna design. He also has deep experience in forensic analysis and in using artificial intelligence and advanced e-discovery techniques to reconstruct the history of a dispute, streamline case analysis, and quickly focus on the evidence that matters.
Christian leads Bayla’s Artificial Intelligence Practice, where he litigates disputes involving AI. He also co-chairs the “Practical Advice on AI” committee of The Sedona Conference’s Working Group on Artificial Intelligence and the Law.
Christian taught Data Security and Privacy Law at the University of San Diego School of Law from 2021 to 2025.
Christian has an active pro bono practice and has represented indigent clients in civil, criminal, housing, and immigration matters, as well as through impact litigation.
Christian is fluent in English and Spanish, and conversant in German.

Represented Teradata in a trade secret and antitrust suit involving parallelized database technology.

Represented Nu Flow in patent litigation involving photo-activated pipe lining technology.
Yardi Systems, Inc. v. Property Solutions Int’l, Inc. (C.D. Cal.)
Represented Property Solutions in a trade secret and copyright suit involving allegations of software copying and claims of data security vulnerabilities.
Confidential Trade Secret Arbitration (JAMS)
Represented a biotechnology company in a one-week arbitration hearing alleging trade secret theft and breach of fiduciary duty by a former executive.
Confidential Founder Dispute Arbitration (JAMS)
Represented a former cryptocurrency CTO in a dispute alleging retaliation for attempts to expose illegal conduct.
DexCom v. Glucovation (San Diego Superior Court)
Represented DexCom in a trade secret suit involving glucose monitoring technology.
Certain Wireless Consumer Electronic Devices and Components Thereof (International Trade Commission)
Represented Kyocera Communications in a two-week trial of a patent dispute about microprocessor clocking. Developed and presented experimental data that led to a trial finding of non-infringement.

Represented Meridian in a contract dispute involving an immunotherapy collaboration agreement.
Eastman Kodak v. Kyocera Corp. (W.D.N.Y.)
Represented Kyocera in a licensing dispute involving digital imaging patents.
